Introducing Calder Communications.

I am excited to be working on something new. 

Calder Communications is the result of the past 24 years of my experience since graduating from college. So, I will start by telling you about that experience.

I studied journalism and advertising in school because I couldn’t pick a side of the fence, and I still can’t! I love them both equally!

The first half of my career was on the editorial side. I started as a reporter at a weekly newspaper, which is a great way to start and learn how to tell a story to a wide audience.

I worked at a Greeting Card company and wrote tag lines/messaging for 60 lines of greeting cards and novelty gifts, which is a great way to learn the art of writing tag lines.

I was the editor of Book Business and Publishing Executive magazine, focused on the business of publishing. I was an editor at a high-end craft magazine, and managing editor of a super niche healthcare journal focused on the business of wound care. I’ve been focused on marketing, communications, PR, and business development since 2012. 

My favorite position of all time was as the marketing director at STRATIS IoT. I served in that role for 7 years. I was the first full-time hire for a company that spun out of an existing company.

In the early days, I perfected Business Journalism as a free way to gain exposure for our startup when we had no marketing budget. 

We grew that company and it was later acquired by a publicly traded company. 

Many marketing and communications teams are always overtaxed. I know that NOT every company has a budget for new hires, and that is where Calder Communications comes in.
