My Time With The Brand
11/06 to 09/07

My Role With The Brand
As senior editor of the brand I really wanted to make sure that the magazine grew by having a stronger editorial presence in the form of cover stories. I constructed marketing plans to attract interviews from the top level of the industry. Highlighted breakthrough interviews include:
Tim O’Reilly, Founder/CEO of O’Reilly Media, Inc.
Jane Friedman, President and CEO of HarperCollins Publishers
George Jones, CEO of Borders Group
Tom Turvey, Head of Google Book Search Partnership
Susan Katz, President and publisher of the Children’s Division of HarperCollins
Brian Murray, Group President for HarperCollins Publishers
Oatricia Schroeder, President and CEO of the Association of American Publishers (AAP)
Mike Lorion, President of LeapFrog Schoolhouse
Dwight Baker, President, Baker Publishing Group
Steve Maikowski, Director of NYU Press

Key Marketing Challenge
A key challenge I took on for this brand was overseeing the creation and analysis of the first ever Book Industry Salary Guide in August of 2007. This issue set the benchmark of what people were making in the book industry across varies positions.

  • I miss the time when people actually would send original ideas in an email and not common practices regurgitated as some new theory or practice.
